L-3/IEC’s Warrior VisionTM Display Selected for U.S. Army’s Striker Program!

Flat panel display meets harsh, extreme conditions for mission critical role.

ANAHEIM, CA (March 31, 2000) – Interstate Electronics Corporation, a division of L-3 Communications Corporation, a leading manufacturer of intelligent ruggedized display systems, today announced that Systems & Electronics Inc. (SEI), has selected the company’s Warrior VisionTM flat panel displays for the U.S. Army’s Striker Program, which provides the Army with increased ability for forward observation and reconnaissance. IEC displays are designed to meet the severe operational and environmental requirements of the Striker Program, including Nuclear Biological and Chemical (NBC) compatibility. Initial shipments of the 12.1" ruggedized flat displays will begin in September.

Critical to the overall mission, IEC’s Warrior VisionTM displays are lightweight and use a touch screen, active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD) with high quality 1280 x 1024 resolution. As part of the advanced targeting system of the Combat Observation Lasing Team (COLT), these flat panel displays will provide mission control to support Striker’s goal of uninterrupted real time awareness in the digital battlefield. They provide a required 160º viewing angle while meeting critical space limitations. The system has a mean time between failure (MTBF) rating of 13,000 hours. Key features of these displays are their upgradeability path and the Striker Program’s requirement of high resolution SXGA AMLCD performance in an NBC environment.

"Operating autonomously in a harsh and hostile environment, the Striker will give the U.S. Army a new, highly mobile targeting system," stated Steve Jungers, Vice President of L-3/IEC. "Our COTS-based displays have been proven to provide the right combination of rugged, high reliability performance at an affordable price."
