High Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF) testing simulates high RF peak pulsed and average fields typical of radar environments and is integral to the certification of flight essential avionics systems. L3 Cincinnati Electronics (L3 CE) can perform HIRF testing from 400 MHz to 18 GHz (with traditional average field testing from 10 kHz to 40 GHz).

As a correlation to HIRF testing, L3 CE test facilities also provide aircraft and engine nacelle attenuation test services. The attentuation measurements are performed to quantify the bench-level HIRF environment, as the nacelle attenuation is subtracted from the external HIRF requirements.

L3 CE has performed those test services for over 40 years and the Environmental Services Group has the ability to perform testing in semi-anechoic test cells, in a reverberation test cell or off-site at approved facilities.
